El “no” ya lo tienes. Part I
In Spain, when faced with a challenge or a situation that requires you to get out of your comfort zone, we say “El no ya lo tienes” in order to push ourselves to get the job done.
This literally means that a ‘no’ is already on the table — you already have a ‘no’.
So what do you do? Do you want to survive past that ‘no’ and become a go-getter?
Or do you stick with the ‘no’ you already have?
Pushing oneself through often uncomfortable conversations requires great self-discipline and effort but who said that attaining a growth mindset was an easy path to take?
If like me, you are a challenge-seeker then, of course, you must strive to achieve your objective even if it implies networking with the pope.
The subconscious bias towards a ‘negative’ attitude is stronger than your Pollyanna-like attitude.
Will your inner naysayer deter you from doing something by posing you stupid questions like:
- Is it worth to try?
- Am I good enough to do this?
- Is any of this going to work?
Pluck up the courage and ask/ do it!
These questions will not be answered if you don’t do it.
So what do you do with that ‘no’ which is the main obstacle standing between you and the next big step?
Get rid of it!
Kick it as you would angrily hit a punchbag!
Kill it!
Execute it!
Because this ‘no’ is, right now, just an emotional obstacle in your head that needs to be surpassed in order to achieve your objectives.
My list of my favorite three expressions that I hope will boost your motivation and inspire you to start today are:
- The biggest risk is not taking any risk — regrets are things you don’t try.
- Nothing ventured, nothing gained — fortune favors the bold.
- No pain, no gain — you have to suffer for the best rewards.
Get your ‘yes’
So keep your eyes on the objective, visualize it and work hard to make it happen — ignore the ‘no’ that you already have and move towards the ‘yes’.
